Our Founding Story

Mentor Mentee began with lessons our founder, Lirel Holt, learned as a young technician working his way through college. The mentors who invested in him shaped his career and inspired decades of work supporting others in the automotive and collision industries.

Lirel went on to found CARSTAR and later co-found S/P2. Across those experiences, one challenge remained consistent: technicians needed clear career pathways, and service leaders needed a practical way to track growth through real work completed. Mentor Mentee was created to make technician development visible, measurable, and easier for teams to support.

Who We Are Today

Today, Mentor Mentee is led by CEO Ron Helmer and a team focused on helping service teams operate more effectively. Shaped by Ron's background as a U.S. Navy veteran, his leadership emphasizes accountability, clarity, and putting people in the right position to succeed.

With a shared focus on operational excellence, Mentor Mentee continues to evolve alongside service teams and the technicians they support. We’re committed to helping the industry grow its own by making technician development easier to see, track, and support.
